Counting of votes for the May 12 Karnataka assembly elections is being held on May 15. Exit polls have predicted a hung assemlby for the 224 member house. The state saw 72.13 per cent polling percentage. It was a three-cornered contest between the ruling Congress, the BJP and the Janata Dal (S). All three have expressed confidence of their victory. Key candidates include incumbent chief minister Siddaramiah, BJP's CM candidate bS Yeddyurappa and JD (S) president HD Kumaraswamy.
