US Supreme Court Lets States Legalize Sports Gambling
  • 6 years ago
The US Supreme Court upheld a state law that violates federal law, paving the way for national betting on sports.
According to reports, the nation's top court ruled 6-to-3 in favor of New Jersey, which passed a state law in 2014 allowing people to gamble on sports at casinos and horse racetracks.
That state law violated the 1992 Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act, which prohibited sports betting outside of the state of Nevada, and parts of Delaware, Montana, and Oregon.
