The Supreme Court has upheld the decision to sentence Choi Soon-sil to 3 years in prison over her daughter Jung Yoo-rah's unfair college admission.
The court on Tuesday said that the evidence proves top-down collusion between Choi and former Ewha Womens University President Choi Kyung-hee, which led to Choi's daughter being admitted to college and receiving passing grades despite her absence from school.
Choi will continue to be detained at the Seoul eastern detention center until the other trials related to the corruption scandal come to an end.
She was sentenced to 20 years in prison in February for other charges related to the scandal.
