Written by City News Service - A 45-year-old woman was killed this morning when the\r
sport utility vehicle in which she was traveling slammed into a tree on a\r
Ventura (134) Freeway offramp in Glendale, a California Highway Patrol Officer\r
said.\r
The 2 a.m. crash occurred on the Pacific Avenue offramp from the\r
westbound side of the freeway, said CHP Officer Monica Posada.\r
A man who was also in the SUV, which appeared to have rolled off the\r
freeways westbound lanes and onto the offramp, was injured but was conscious\r
and breathing while being loaded into an ambulance to be taken to a hospital,\r
said a news photographer at the scene.\r
The woman was dead at the scene, her body lying covered on the pavement,\r
he said.\r
Glendale firefighters had to cut both victims from the wreckage, the\r
photographer said.\r
It was not immediately clear which victim was driving the SUV.\r
The crash shut down the offramp during the investigation, Posada said. \r
