President Moon speaks about North Korea ahead of Tokyo trip
  • 6 years ago
President Moon has great expectations for the upcoming Washington-Pyongyang summit.
A view made clear during an interview with Yomiuri Shimbun.
He highlighted Kim Jong-un's firm determination for his regime's "complete denuclearization" as a positive base for a successful meeting with President Trump.
The liberal leader added... North Korea-Japan talks should resume... as Tokyo will play an important role in fostering peace and prosperity on the Peninsula... while mentioning Kim expressed willingness to engage in dialogue with Japan any time.
On the country's wartime sexual enslavement of Korean women, and the widely disputed 2015 Seoul-Tokyo deal on the matter, President Moon said only a sincere apology will truly settle the issue.
