The UK was named the number 1 most preferred hotel investment country, in 2017, in Europe according to CBRE’s European Hotel Investor Intentions Survey 2018.
The report by CBRE concluded that the United Kingdom was the most popular destination to invest in hotel property in the whole of Europe.
35% of respondents asked identified the UK as their most sought-after hotel investment location.
This is a 106% increase from the previous year’s report.
The UK has taken the top spot for the second year in a row.
It was revealed that the UK overtook Germany in the 2017 report as 2016's most preferred hotel investment location in Europe.
This is reinforced by the amount of investment activity in this UK sector hitting a record-breaking £5.4 million from UK and overseas investors combined.
This was the highest volume of hotel investment in Europe in 2017.
There are also high hopes for the country’s hotel real estate sector due to the 39% increase in UK hotel sector transactions year-on-year.
The study reported that 94% of respondents said they plan to invest either the same amount or more capital into a hotel property in 2018 compared to 2017.
It goes to show that the hotel property industry is highly lucrative.
This could mean that next year is another big year for the UK hotel investment sector.
