First lady Melania Trump's popularity has soared, according to the latest poll from CNN. Conducted by SSRS from May 2-5, the survey shows 57% of the roughly 1,000 participants expressed a positive opinion of Trump, up 10 points from January.  "This is the biggest number Melania Trump has experienced in any CNN polling, and higher than any favorability rating earned by President Donald Trump in CNN polling history going back to 1999," CNN notes. The increase in favorability was bipartisan, with numbers among Democrats improving by 15% and Republicans registering a 6% bump.  The first lady's rising numbers also crossed gender lines, with upticks of 7% and 13% among men and women, respectively. CNN suggests the upward momentum could be due, in part, to sympathy, but it has also been noted that Trump has been more visible in recent times.  While she's refrained from publicly addressing her husband's alleged affairs with Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal, she has been establishing more of an independent presence. NPR announced on Monday, "Trump is unveiling her policy priorities — as have first ladies who have come before her — which are expected to focus on children."
