Soviet Monuments of Warsaw [Kult America]
In this episode of Kult America, we visit some of the Soviet monuments in Warsaw Poland. This was an interesting experience because despite many Poles having a strong aversion to the memory of what USSR did in their country, they are still surrounded by constant reminders of that era. We visited the former seat of the Communist authorities (Known as KC PZPR), The former site of the planning commission which was a great example of the social realist architectural style, Marszałkowska Housing District (MDM) (Marszałkowska Dzielnica Mieszkaniowa (MDM), Konstytucji Square (Plac Konstytucji), The Soviet Military Cemetery which is burial place to over 20,000 Soviet soldiers who died fighting against Nazi Germany. Before the day was over we also visited the Palace of Culture and Science (Pałac Kultury i Nauki), Defilad Square (Plac Defilad), and the Red Army Memorial, in Skaryszewski Park in Warsaw.
