Peter Lamarr - Under Lock And Key

This seven inch single was first released on Soul Intention Records, a label run by Phil Dick and Ian Dewhirst. Peter Lamarr sings "Under Lock And Key", and I have already embroiled myself in controversy on internet Soul forums by claiming this is the single BEST Northern Soul record I have EVER MADE. I think it is simply wonderful. Peter comes from Detroit and spent about twenty years performing with The Drifters, settling over in England to live. There is also new solo track on the album "Soul Steppers" which was released in 2009. A delectable album of "Modern-Room" style Northern Soul. Classic retro soul, owing more homage to Gamble and Huff and the sound of Philadelphia and the mid 1970s rhythms, than to the usual Sixties style. Midtempo and Uptempo soulful sizzlers to warm the embers of your heart, and take your feet totally out of control, and that beautiful mid-tempo lilter is called "Taking You For Granted". And for that same album, as one of the bonus tracks for the DVD, we have teamed Peter Lamarr together with Gina Foster for an amazing duet on "Miracles", another song bursting with hope for the future, the main theme of this album. While recording the album, and Peter singing both "Taking You For Granted" and "Miracles", his voice gave me such goosebumps that there and then, on the spot, I created, with Clive Scott, what I aimed at being the ultimate Northern Soul record. And here it is. Purists will despise it. Anyone with an open mind will love it. Please play it loud and dance in the street to its joyous exuberance.
