Peter Lamarr - Holding My Heart In Your Hands

Peter Lamarr sings "Holding My Heart In Your Hands", a song Clive and I wrote for Steve Brookstein in 2005 for his album on Sony, for Simon Cowell, until Simon in a grossly misguided whim, decided the whole album was to be only covers and no new songs at all. So, I decided to cut the song on Peter Lamarr a few years later. Peter comes from Detroit and spent about twenty years performing with The Drifters. We were so excited to get to work with him. Firstly we recorded the most beautiful mid tempo song, which was called "Never Take You For Granted", which was also on a vinyl seven inch, on the B side of his Northern Stomper "Under Lock And Key". We also teamed Peter Lamarr together with Gina Foster for an amazing duet of "Miracles", which featured on my "Soul Steppers" album. It was another song bursting with hope for the future, the main theme of that album. While we were recording that album Peter's voice gave me such goosebumps that there and then, on the spot, I created, with Clive Scott, what I aimed at being the ultimate Northern Soul record, "Under Lock And Key". Having already released "Northern Soul 2007" and "Northern Soul 2008" on Centre City Records, I began to record the songs for "Northern Soul 2009" in February of 2009, with my long time producing partner Clive Scott, until that awful unspeakable day of May 10th, when Clive passed away. Only fifteen of the songs were finished. Clive and I had started the music for six more, so in honour of his memory, I compiled a further seven songs which Clive and I had written for various projects but had never been released. It seemed only right that Clive's last ever project should contain all songs that he had written with me. So, with a heavy heart we set about the task of completing this monumentally important project to keep his skill and talent alive forever. A bittersweet loving tribute to the much missed Clive Scott.
