Subway Set to Close Roughly 500 Locations in U.S. The closings will take place over the course of 2018 and come after the restaurant chain shut down 800 stores last year. Subway Subway said it expects to open more than 1,000 locations in the U.K., Germany, South Korea, India
and China. The company has an estimated 44,000 locations worldwide, which makes Subway the largest restaurant chain globally. Subway is in the midst of a revitalization, introducing new menu items, deals and remodeled restaurants.
