And to tell us more about this,... Dr. Go Myong-hyun , a research fellow at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies,... joins us in the studio today.
Welcome to the program.

Thanks for having me.

1- And today, North Korea held its plenary session of its workers’ party, and this meeting comes after Trump’s new pick for U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang.
What could’ve been discussed at the meeting and what can we expect from it?

2- What policies can we expect from the meeting in regards to North Korea’s denuclearization?

3- Then what are the chances of us seeing North Korea officially announcing Kim Jong-un's upcoming summit with President Trump?

4- There's interest in whether any changes might be made to Kim Jong-un's signature " Byongjin" policy of nuclear and economic development which was adopted at this meeting back in March 2013.

5- Also a direct communications hotline between President Moon Jae-in and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un went live today.
How did the trial call go between the two countries' working-level officials and what role would this hotline serve between the two Koreas?

6- Then when will the two leaders get to talk to each other directly over the phone and what kind of things will they talk about ahead of next Friday’s inter-Korean summit?

7- There are growing expectations over the establishment of a peace treaty between the two Koreas, and President Moon said yesterday that North Korea hasn’t put forth any preconditions that the U.S. wouldn’t accept,... such as the withdrawal of U.S. troops from South Korea,... which the North had previously demanded that South Korea and the U.S. do.
What can we make of this?

8- And U.S. President Trump said Wednesday that the United States will do all it can to make the U.S.-North Korea summit a (QUOTE-UNQUOTE) "worldwide success" but then at the same time, said that he will walk away from the talks if he doesn't think it will bear fruit.
Tell us more about his comments.

9- Questions are mounting over *where this Trump-Kim summit will be held.
What are some potential locations being discussed at this point and what significance would such locations carry?

10- Meanwhile, South Korea's top nuclear negotiator Lee Do-hoon is expected to meet with Susan Thornton, acting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs next week.
What might they discuss?

11- How did the meeting between U.S. President Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe go in regards to their discussions over North Korea?

Thank you for your insight today.

You're welcome.
