Wild cat in rehabilitation jumps 9.8 feet high to grab a bite

A caracal or wild cat in rehabilitation left its carers stunned when it jumped 9.8 feet high in order to grab a bite.

The footage, captured on April 12, shows one of the carers teasing the big cat by holding a stick with a prey tied to it.

After a few attempts, the animal manages to leap and catch the prey.

The filmer writes: ''An experiment was conducted to see how high a caracal can actually jump.

''The reason for this controlled experiment was to determine their capabilities in the wild when fending for themselves.''

Caracals live in the drier savannah and woodland regions of sub-Saharan Africa and prey upon small mammals, birds and rodents.
