Large crowds gathered outside a children’s hospital in Liverpool on April 12 in anger at a court ruling that a child on life support should have treatment withdrawn. The child’s father live streamed a video on Facebook saying he had a right to remove his son from the hospital and to continue his treatment. The 23-month-old boy, Alfie Evans, has been in a coma for more than a year suffering from a degenerative neurological condition that has not been definitively identified, local media said. The Merseyside Police said they were monitoring the peaceful protests but that access to the hospital was disrupted.
