A massive resistance movement hit the roads in Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province

The Pashtun movement saw huge participation by the tribal youth. The Pashtun Tahafuz Movement or Pashtun Protection Movement was started mainly by young Pashtun activists. They want an end to what they say are human rights violations against tribal communities which are led by authorities in the country's tribal regions. They also want military checkpoints in tribal areas removed and an end to "enforced disappearances" where suspects are detained by security forces without due process. The movement has attracted the disillusioned Pashtun youth. Protesters were mainly associated with the Awami National Party (ANP) and Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP)
