Target announced on Tuesday that it located and fired the individual responsible for slipping "It's Okay To Be White" cards into a number of diaper packs, reports KMSP. The slogan is one used by white supremacists groups. On the back of the laminated card was a list of white supremacist and neo-Nazi websites. BuzzFeed News notes that they were found by both online and in-store shoppers in Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, Florida, and Washington, D.C. and were inside both Target's Up & Up and Pampers diaper packs. Target did not provide specifics on how it located the employee, but Joshua Thomas, a spokesperson for the company, did comment, "We have identified the source, and given this is a violation of our policies and our commitment to inclusivity, terminated the team member." The company also issued an apology to those affected.
