Mixed Feelings About Multiple-States' Shifting Of Education Funds To School Safety

According to a report by Reuters, school officials, local sheriffs, and Democrats have all opposed different provisions of the 400 million-dollar bill signed into law by Florida Governor Rick Scott to boost security at schools following February's mass shooting in Parkland. Educators have voiced concerns that the bill will strip money from core education to pay for new school defense resources and increased security. Florida state Senator Jose Javier Rodriguez, a Democrat who voted against the bill said, "We are a very lean state. If we’re spending money somewhere, we’re taking it from somewhere else.”
