Uber has joined the bike-sharing industry. The company bought a Brooklyn-based startup called JUMP Bikes. The company offers electronic bikes in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. JUMP bikes are dockless and can be locked to any bike rack via a smartphone app. E-bikes allow riders to pedal lightly but travel at high speeds. TechCrunch reports that Uber may have paid more than $100 million to purchase the startup. The next step will likely be to take JUMP e-bikes nationwide.
