After Congress, Mamata Banerjee slams BJP for petrol and diesel price hike

Petrol hits a 4-year high with prices rising upto Rs 73.73 a litre. Diesel has hit an all-time high with its price now being Rs 64.58 a litre. After Congress, it was the turn of Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee to mount an offensive attack on the Centre for the steep hike in petrol and diesel prices. The last time petrol prices were at an all-time high was in September 2013 when it was Rs 76.06 per litre in the city. In a bid to bring in transparency in pricing of fuels, the government had changed the fortnightly revision of prices to a daily routine in June 2017. Since then prices of petrol at the pump have gone up by over 12 percent, while for diesel the increase has been even steeper at over 18 percent.
