Trump Says Obama Left Him A 'Big, Beautiful Present' In Form Of Judicial Vacancies

President Trump on Thursday said former President Obama left him a "big beautiful present."

President Trump, during his Thursday speech at an infrastructure event in Richfield, Ohio, thanked former President Barack Obama for leaving more than 100 judicial posts vacant. "I don't know why Obama left that. It was like a big, beautiful present to all of us," Trump said. The president continued, "maybe he got complacent…It was the gift. Thank you very much. President Obama. We all appreciate it." While there were, indeed, a large number of vacancies left behind, it wasn't necessarily for a lack of interest in filling them. Some of those seats were held open as a result of Republicans declining to approve Obama's nominees, according to the New York Times. Those seats are now being filled in record numbers.  "Fourteen judges nominated by Trump have been confirmed to the appeals courts," notes the Washington Examiner. Trump's picks for the lifetime appointments are, at large, young and conservative. It is anticipated that they could have a significant impact on a number of issues, including gun laws, religious freedom, and LGBT rights.
