Ukrainian aviation engineer Vladimir Tatarenko was often at the scene of terrible plane accidents. It was these experiences that would lead to his idea of building an escape cabin that would detach from the aircraft in the event of an emergency. There would also be storage space underneath the cabin so luggage would remain with the passengers. After working on the idea for decades, Tatarenko received a patent for the concept last year.\r
