White House counselor Kellyanne Conway appears to be more open to potentially taking on the White House communications director position.
During an appearance on 'Fox & Friends' Friday, Conway was asked about a recent report by The Atlantic which stated she "is moving closer to accepting President Donald Trump's offer for her to succeed Hope Hicks."
"I'm here to support the president however he sees is most important," Conway told the hosts.
"I don't have any personnel announcements at this time," she added. "The president controls the timing, content, and tone of all those personnel announcements...I will do whatever is best, whatever my best and highest use is here."
Conway's response seems to represent a shift from the one she gave the show on March 1 when she was initially asked about the possibility of replacing Hicks.
"I've been offered that job many times, and no, I work on policy here at the White House," Conway said at the time.
However, The Atlantic piece quoted an inside source as saying, "It's becoming increasingly difficult for her to say no."
According to the New York Times, Hicks announced her resignation on February 28, one day after she admitted to the House Intelligence Committee that "in her job, she had occasionally been required to tell white lies but had never lied about anything connected to the investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 election."
