Republican Senator Lindsey Graham indicated on Tuesday that if President Trump were to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election, it could be grounds for impeachment.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham indicated on Tuesday that if President Trump were to fire special counsel Robert Mueller, who is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election, it could be grounds for impeachment. During an appearance on Hugh Hewitt's radio show, Graham was asked if such a dismissal would qualify as an impeachable offense.  "Probably so, if he did it without cause, yeah," Graham responded. "I think what the President will have done is stopped an investigation in whether or not his campaign colluded with the Russians, what effect the Russians had on the 2016 campaign," the senator continued. "I can't see it being anything other than a corrupt purpose." Graham further noted that while he personally has not seen any evidence of collusion,"to stop investigation without cause, I think, would be a Constitutional crisis."  This is not the first time Graham has characterized Mueller's firing as a very bad idea. Just days ago Graham said on CNN's 'State of the Union' that such a move "would be the beginning of the end of [Donald Trump's] presidency."  CNN notes, "Graham called for Mueller to be able to carry out his investigation...'independent of any political influence.'"
