Shia LaBeouf to play his father in new biopic

We may soon be one step closer to solving the enigma that is Shai LaBeouf. He is set star in a film “loosely based” on his own life, except he won’t be playing himself.

Instead he will play his "law-breaking, alcohol-abusing" father with Lucas Hedges playing Shai.

The film, named after Shia’s childhood nickname – ‘Honey Boy’ – is to be directed by Alma Har'el but no release date is to be given.

This could be a welcome return to the silver screen for Shia. He says he feels “run out” of the industry since a project he was working on with Spike Lee fell through.
