#BecomingFilipino - Making Binignit

  • 6年前
I first tried the traditional Filipino dish known as Binignit back in April during Holy Week. Since then I have received a few suggestions from Filipinos that I try to make my own! Well I just did. and it was AWESOME! Apir!\r

Binignit is commonly found during holy week a time when lots of Filipinos will refrain from eating meat. It is similar to a Halo-Halo in that it is full of all sorts of ingredients that you mix together! Camotes (all different colours), Coconut milk, sticky rice, jackfruit, gabi, gelatine balls, sugar, banana and of course LOVE! Served warm. this dish is incredibly filling! BUSOG!\r

This video is my journey through the Binignit making process! It is a food full of energy and thus I WAS ENERGIZED while making it!. okay and maybe a little bit enthusiastic and a tiny bit boang :)\r

A massive Thank You to Bobong from Cabula River Resort about 30 minutes outside of Cagayan de Oro! Not only did he offer me my first ever Binignit back in April, but he inspired me to try and make it myself! Also a massive Thank You to Jenny and all the kitchen staff!! I had a BLAST! I can now cook three Filipino Foods! Wahoo!\r
