Meru MCAs condemn miraa ban motion in Kwale county assembly

A section of Ward representatives from Miraa growing areas in Meru have condemned a move by their Kwale County counterparts to ban the herb.
The Kwale County Assembly unanimously passed a motion banning the sale of miraa and muguka and directed the health department to come up with regulations on how the ban will be effected.
Athiru Gaiti MCA Adamson Muriki termed the motion illegal as it contravenes national law that recognize miraa as a cash crop.
