During my trip to Amsterdam, I stayed at the Park Plaza Amsterdam ($64/night). The location of the hotel was 15 minutes walking distance from the last tram stop and 30 minutes by tram from the center of Amsterdam.\r

There are better accommodation options in Amsterdam, but Ive found that you end up paying twice as much if you book a hotel directly in the city center.
