A Day in the Life: Travelling, Working & Living in a Van - Van Life Vlog

In this video, we give you a behind-the-scenes look at our day-to-day life in the van while were visiting Halifax, Nova Scotia in September 2016. Weve been travelling around Canada in our camper van all summer, working hard to film a ton of new content to share with you. Weve met really inspiring people and weve seen some beautiful parts of Eastern Canada, which has been absolutely fantastic. \r

But we also end up spending a fair amount of time editing videos in the van, and using WiFi in cafes and Walmart parking lots to upload our YouTube videos, which is not quite as nice as being out in nature but we try to make the best of our city days. Being nomadic and working online as we travel means we have to be flexible and open to what every day has to offer.\r

In this vlog, we wake up in a Walmart parking lot in Halifax after having spent several hours the night before trying to find a WiFi connection that was strong enough to upload our latest video featuring David from Cruising the Cut. It was a long video so we left our computer on all night and luckily the video uploaded.\r
\r
We spent a few hours at a nearby Starbucks to write the video description and design the video thumbnail before heading back to the van to try and figure out how to fix our muffler, which is loose and seems like it could fall off at any moment.\r

We share our meals with you, including watermelon and banana as an early morning snack, coffee, hummus, crackers and peppers for lunch, and a delicious dinner at the Wooden Monkey in Halifax (including a seitan sandwich and tofu chocolate pie!). \r
\r
After spending most of the day in a parking lot working on the video and on the van, we finally get the chance to head downtown to walk along the waterfront in Halifax and enjoy some of the scenery.\r
\r
Once it gets dark and were done eating dinner, we hop back in the van and head to a different Walmart that isnt quite so far away for another night of free urban camping. One of the nice things about camping in a Walmart parking lot is that we usually have WiFi so we can watch some Netflix and do a bit of work at night. When we cant connect, we have to rely on books and Mats ukulele to keep us entertained.\r

I hope you enjoyed having a glimpse into our day to day life in the van. As you can see, were not always parked in beautiful wild spots, but we try to make the best of the time we spend in cities and parking lots, too.\r

Its the guide we would have wanted to have when we first started out on our 4-wheeled adventure, and in it, we answer the most commonly asked questions about living and travelling in a van including: how to buy a van, where to park overnight, how to stay clean, where to get free WiFi, how to stay safe, and much more.\r
