Fyre Festival Promoter Expected to Plead Guilty to Criminal Charges Page Six reported that Billy McFarland is expected to plead guilty on Tuesday afternoon in Manhattan federal court. McFarland promoted the infamous Fyre Festival, a music festival in the Bahamas, which cost guests up to $12,000 for a ticket. The festival turned to shambles when none of the promised high-end services were delivered during the two weeks in the spring of 2017. McFarland faces wire fraud charges and lawsuits for luring investors into the "luxury" festival with bogus documents. According to reports, he spent $160,000 on a yacht for the band Blink-182, who pulled out before the event.
