Tower Records Founder Russ Solomon Dead at 92 Solomon suffered a heart attack on Sunday night while watching the 90th Academy Awards, according to The Sacramento Bee. Michael Solomon (son), to The Sacramento Bee Solomon founded the music retail company in 1960 after selling records in his father's store as a teenager. The company went out of business in 2006 but still exists as an online store.
