Panicked shoppers in Ireland have emptied supermarket shelves to stock up on supplies ahead of Storm Emma.

Video posted yesterday (February 26) to social media at an Aldi supermarket in Kilkenny in southeast Ireland showed several empty shelves without bread and vegetables.

Filmer Caroline Clifford told Newsflare: "I never saw anything like this before, everyone seems to be preparing for the big freeze!"

The storm is set to arrive today as the Beast from the East weather system sweeps across the UK and Ireland.

Temperatures could feel as cold as -15C.
