A man found out a snake lying down on a coat rack inside his house.

The incident took place Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India, on February 24.

Rakesh Thakur, a scientist, had returned home after attending a night-long wedding ceremony.

Tired and sleepy, he got ready to go to sleep at 6.05 am and took off his shirt.

As he reached for the hanger, he spotted a 2.5 feet-long snake sleeping on the rack.

He rushed out of the room to warn his flatmates who made a call to Snake Helpline, an animal rescue organisation.

A team of volunteers led by Subhendu Mallik reached the spot in 30 minutes and managed to pluck the snake out of its perch to later released in its natural habitat.

The snake was found to be a non-venomous Checkered Keel Back snake.
