New York Man Pleads Guilty to Attempting to Support Islamic State

On Wednesday, a former plumbing assistant from New York City pleaded guilty to attempting to provide material support to Islamic State. Federal prosecutors also said that Sajmir Alimehmeti pleaded guilty to committing passport fraud in order to facilitate an act of terrorism. He faces up to 20 years for attempting to support Islamic State and 25 years for passport fraud. Authorities said they found an Islamic State flag, a martial arts weapon and combat-survival knives in his home.
