Mission Gunwatta: Bihar's Literacy Drive

Schooling does not equate to learning. Bihar has gone the unconventional way to raise its quality of elementary education. Mission Gunwatta is an innovative program being tested in all government schools in Bihar. With the assumption that grade-level teaching is leaving a lot of children behind, the Mission aims to group students based on their learning and comprehension levels rather than by grade or age. Teachers are encouraged to employ innovative hands-on methods to bring pupils up to speed.
