The ESO's Very Large Telescope in Chile

First opened in 1998, the Very Large Telescope (VLT) is one of the main optical telescopes installed in Chile’s Atacama desert. Made up of four main telescopes, each equipped with a mirror 8.2 meters in diameter, it has enabled the observation of black holes.
