How long can you go without a bathroom break? 163 years, say engine drivers

Imagine a journey of over 12 hours on a train through out which you cannot take a break, either for refreshments or to answer nature’s call.

This is how the journey has been for more than 60,000 locomotive pilots, or engine drivers, over the last 163 years until the Indian Railways introduced the first locomotive fitted with a bio-toilet, just this month.

In India, different transportation systems have different rules and regulations.
