George R.R. Martin Gave a Not-So-Good Update on the Next 'Game of Thrones' Book Martin's next book in his famed A Song of Fire and Ice series, The Winds of Winter, likely won't be out in 2018. In a recent post on his live journal, Not A Blog, Martin confirmed the news in an exchange in the
comments section. George R.R. Martin Fire and Blood is Martin's anthology of the Targaryen family history and is currently devoting his energy to finishing the first volume in 2018. This means that 'The Winds of Winter' probably won't come out until 2019, which is also when the eighth and final season of 'Games of Thrones' is supposed to air.
