Sattar to serve show-cause notice to Rabita Committee for flouting orders

KARACHI: Apparently indignant over flouting of his powers, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chief Dr Farooq Sattar announced to send a ‘show-cause’ notice to defiant members of Rabita Committee, ARY News reported on Saturday.

Declaring all Rabita Committee meetings and decisions as sheer breach of party constitution, Sattar in an overnight press conference on Friday said he had extended the “deadline” till Sunday (Feb 11) for all annoyed party activists and leaders to reunite under his leadership.

“I will be sending a show cause notice to the Rabita Committee members on Saturday,” he said in the overnight press conference on Friday.

Sattar said he would also write a letter to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to declare a letter of the Rabita Committee as null and void.

On the occasion, he equated the filing of nomination papers for Senate polls by the Committee members as “no confidence” motion against him. “I was stabbed on back as the Committee attempted to snatch away my rights,” Sattar deplored.

He claimed that it’s no more a matter of a Senate ticket but a breach of the party’s constitution.

He appealed the party workers and leaders across the province to ensure their presence in General Workers meeting on Sunday at 4:00 pm to safeguard the party from further splitting into factions.
