FBI deputy director steps down after Trump criticism

FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is reportedly leaving his position ahead of a previously planned retirement this spring.
He led the bureau for months last year following the firing of former director James Comey until Christopher Wray took the helm.
McCabe has often been criticized by President Trump for being politically motivated, as an investigation into alleged collusion between Trump's 2016 presidential campaign and Russia continues.
McCabe was slated to retire in March, but he is able to step down earlier with his accumulated leave.
Asked about his departure, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders told reporters that President Trump was not part of the decision-making process.
