Prosecutors to question Lee Myung-bak's elder brother over bribery suspicions
  • 6 years ago
Digging deeper into a web of shadowy bribery allegations,... prosecutors are set to question Lee Sang-deuk , the brother of ex-President Lee Myung-bak over allegations he took illicit funds from the country's intelligence agency.
The 83-year old former lawmaker was initially scheduled to appear before prosecutors earlier this week,... but the date was postponed upon his request citing lack of preparation and health issues.
Prosecutors believe the National Intelligence Service handed millions of dollars of its special activity funds to Lee since early 2011 when he was a sitting lawmaker for then-ruling political party, and when Lee Myung-bak was president.
In another, but not completely separate case,... the former president's nephew,.. Lee Dong-hyung was also questioned by prosecutors this week, over his suspected involvement in the alleged creation of the ex-president's slush fund.
