Cloned monkeys open up new research potential

Zhong Zhong and Hua Hua are the first primates to be cloned using somatic cell nuclear transfer technique, which was also used for Dolly the sheep. This technique allows a large number of genetically identical animals to be born, and opens up new potential for research. The cloned monkeys were born in a Chinese Academy of Sciences laboratory in Shanghai.
