Clone Monkeys The two long-tailed macaque twins were born using the same cloning techniques that produced Dolly the Sheep back in 1996. Muming Poo of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Shanghai and his team detailed their success in the journal Cell. Muming Poo Out of the six pregnancies that came as a result of the procedure, only the two girls were born. The milestone achievement will be sure to raise ethical questions about cloning, since monkeys share a lot of similarities in DNA to humans. But Poo assured that the cloned monkeys will help with medical research and understanding genetic diseases like autism and Parkinson's.
