With Davos Approaching, the Global Economy Is Surging, but Growth Could Stall
The World Bank forecasts growth in the world’s biggest economy to accelerate to 2.5 percent this year, from 2.3 percent last year.
While the world’s advanced nations are expected to slow marginally, the World Bank projects emerging economies
will gain speed, with 4.5 percent growth this year compared with an estimated 4.3 percent in 2017.
That is what we are mostly concerned about.”
The World Bank forecasts that global growth this year will reach 3.1 percent, a slight improvement from its estimated 3 percent rate for 2017.
The World Bank foresees that growth of world gross domestic product will taper off in 2019, to 3 percent, and 2.9 percent in 2020.
Last year, though, the world enjoyed what economists call a synchronized” recovery among major economies.
