anniversary. The new Land Rover Defender is the first to be powered by a V8 in 20 years and pays homage to the early high-powered engines in both the Series III Stage 1 V8 from 1979 and subsequent Defenders.

The Land Rover Defender Works V8 is the most powerful SUV to ever bear the Defender name and will be produced by the British marque's Land Rover Classic division. Powering the most powerful Defender of all time is a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 which produces 400bhp and 515Nm of torque.

The power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox and allows the Defender Works V8 to sprint from 0–100kph in just 5.6 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 170kph.
