Centre withdraws subsidy for Haj pilgrims.The Centre on Tuesday scrapped the Haj subsidy for pilgrims as the fund will instead be used for the empowerment of minorities from this year. In keeping with Supreme Court orders and its own political plank, the Modi government will no longer provide subsidy to Haj pilgrims and has pledged that funds saved will be used for the education of minorities, particularly girl children.

मोदी सरकार ने हज यात्रा को लेकर बड़ा फैसला लिया है... केंद्र सरकार ने हज पर मिलने वाली सब्सिडी को खत्म कर दिया है.... केंद्रीय अल्पसंख्यक मामलों के मंत्री मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी ने यह जानकारी मीडिया को दी... मुख्तार अब्बास नकवी ने कहा कि हज यात्रा पर दी जाने वाली रियायत को इस साल से खत्म कर दिया गया है.... नकवी ने कहा कि इस साल 1.75 लाख मुसलमान हज पर जाएंगे जो अब तक की सबसे बड़ी संख्या है.... ये लोग बिना सब्सिडी के यात्रा पर जाएंगे.... इस फैसले पर नकवी ने कहा कि सब्सिडी खत्म करने जो धनराशि बचेगी, उसका इस्तेमाल अल्पसंख्यक समुदाय के सामाजिक, आर्थिक व शैक्षणिक विकास में होगा...
