Active shooter reported at Arkansas State University

An active shooter has been spotted at the student union at the Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, school officials say, warning students to evacuate the area. “Report of an active shooter spotted at the student union. Everyone should evacuate to the west side of the building and clear the area,” the university said in an alert sent to students at 1:35 p.m. CT on Thursday.

Other details were not immediately available, and it was unclear whether the authorities had confirmed a shooter is on campus.
