Historic Hampton Village

The historic Hampton Village near Burra in South Australia, is a very rare example of an abandoned 19th century town. When Copper was discovered at Burra, the miners wanted their own cottages so the township was sub-divided in 1857 with the first land sale in 1858. Although the mine closed in 1877, the last occupants left in the early 1960’s.
