Terrified passengers scream as two planes collide at Toronto airport

This is the terrifying moment two planes collide at Toronto Pearson International Airport, sparking a fireball and causing passengers to evacuate.

Eyewitness video filmed last Friday evening (January 5) inside a WestJet plane shows passengers out of their seats and screaming as flames sparked on the tail outside a plane window, shortly before they evacuated by emergency slide.

According to filmer Stephen Belford, the collision happened "right after the pilot announced they were 'low on staff.'"

The stationary plane had arrived in Toronto from Cancun in Mexico when it was struck by an empty Sunwing aircraft that was moving back from a gate.

Says Belford: "We where waiting to go to a gate. I am not sure how long we were on a runway, maybe five to six minutes. I was not aware (of anything) until 10 to 15 seconds before the crash.

"I figured it was an accident, because I saw through the window another plane which was being towed by a staff truck.

"i don't think anyone was injured. We left the plane via emergency slides and it was pretty fast."

According to reports, there were 168 passengers and six crew members on board the flight WS2425.
