Julian Assange Granted Citizenship By Ecuador

Ecuador has officially granted citizenship to Julian Assange.
However, what that means for founder of WikiLeaks remains unclear.
Assange has taken up residency in Ecuador's embassy in London for the past five years.
He imposed his own exile back in 2012 while facing charges of sexual assault leveled against him by two women from Sweden.
The announcement follows a request from Ecuador to grant diplomatic status for Assange in the UK.
That request was not granted.
