XHU è una band. Un progetto di ricerca sonora con l’intento di proporre una visione alternativa della musica; un laboratorio in cui sperimentare nuove soluzioni ritmiche e sonore, attraverso un linguaggio inedito e rivoluzionario. Xhu è anche un codice espressivo, in origine solo visivo, ma che con il tempo e la ricerca si è evoluto fino a diventare fonetico. Un nuovo idioma generato da grafemi prima inesistenti, una scrittura primitiva con una propria grammatica coerente e un corrispondente apparato fonetico. Ogni testo viene composto e cantato in lingua Xhu, da cui la band prende, appunto, il nome.
Il sound degli XHU è fortemente ispirato da artisti come Peter Gabriel, Genesis, TV on the Radio e altri nomi della scena world rock mondiale. Ma a plasmare più di ogni cosa il suono sono le suggestioni sonore raccolte in giro per il mondo, durante gli innumerevoli viaggi di Alessandro. Le diverse sfumature che è possibile rintracciare nei brani degli XHU hanno radici proprio nei luoghi fotografati, filmati, ripresi e custoditi in questi viaggi di ricerca-azione. Africa, India, Cina, Medioriente, Europa.
La matrice del sound del progetto è sicuramente l’elettronica, ma nell’accezione più ampia del termine. Se elettronica definisce l’utilizzo della tecnologia a favore della composizione musicale e della “sintetizzazione” del suono allora gli XHU sono un gruppo di musica elettronica; con la capacità però di dialogare contemporaneamente con elementi multipli, dai futuristi synth fino alle vibrazioni profonde e ancestrali di legni, ottoni, tamburi. Alessandro sperimenta costantemente l’utilizzo di oggetti apparentemente lontani dall’ iconografia musicale, ma che possono essere reinventati e impiegati sotto nuova forma, come ad esempio le macchine da scrivere. L’impronta è quella della contaminazione sonora. Il suono come mappa del mondo ha portato a mettere, in tutti i brani, in scontro e in tensione, sonorità estreme, diverse, facendole convivere nello stesso arrangiamento, cercando sempre il comfort orecchiabile e musicale.
XHU is a musical project which introduces an alternative view of music; it's a lab of new sounds and rhythmic solutions through an innovative language.
XHU comes from an idea of Alessandro Capasso, voice of the band but, firstly, creator of the new language from which the band takes its name.
Initially Xhu language was just a written code that, over time and studies, has evolved into phonetic and oral. This new idiom has also its own grammar.
Every song is written and sung in Xhu, this way represents the strenght and the exclusivity of the project.
The new language was created by Alessandro Capasso when he was only a kid who wanted to hide his secrets and thoughts from the rest of the world.
After years of study on cryptograms and characters, Xhu became a written and spoken language, a unique case all over Europe.
The sound of the XHU is deeply influenced by artists like Peter Gabriel, Genesis, TV on the Radio and many other artists of the global rock stage. Moreover, travels represent for Alessandro Capasso another fundamental influence. Different shades are traceable in XHU lyrics and sounds and they have their roots in those places which were visited, filmed, photographed during travels across Africa, India, China, Middle East and Europe. Only real destination: the sound.
The XHU music is a mix of rock, pop, electro and a lot of research. It is a sound fusion which aims to give back a unique feeling to the audience.
The first XHU single, Nheven, was published on May 22nd; the second one, Whelh, has been previewed on Rolling Stone on Novembre 27th.
